Indira Bailey is an award winning art educator. Her diverse approach to art education has been recongnized on a national level. Ms. Bailey is the receipt of the 2014-2016 America Achieves Principals & Teachers Fellowship. This fellowship enable the nation's best educators to impact educational policy, practice and public debates. In 2013, Ms. Bailey was selected one of twelve educators across the country for the Hope Street National Teacher Fellowship. She is a teacher leader among her peers and who want to contribute her ideas and expertise to help shape state and local policy on art education, career technical education and other non-tested subjects. She has written several published opt-ed articles on the status of art education as it relates to Common Core State Standards.

Ms. Bailey is a recipient of the highly competitive Fulbright-Hayes Fellowship for international educational exchange to conduct research and exercise her talent as an educator and artist in Morocco, South Africa and Japan Fulbright Memorial Fellowship.

Indira selected as New Jersey Teacher of the Year in 2012-2013 and Essex County Teacher of the Year. This program recognizes and honors the contributions of an outstanding classroom teacher leader who possess a special talent for inspiring love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities.

Ms. Bailey's accreditation as an art education, lead her to to be invited by the New Jersey Department of Education, as a member of the Visual and Performing Arts Model Curriculum Team. Indira was invited by the Committee of Multi-Ethnic Concerns as the keynote speaker for the Grace Hampton Lecture Series at the National Art Educators Association Convention in Fort Worth, Texas.

Indira researches and publishes an art educational newsletter entitled "Art with Indira," formely "Indira". The newsletter newsletter featuring art history, art careers, art lessons and art education on minority artists.

For more than a decade, Ms. Bailey has been a commercial illustration instructor and teacher leader at Essex County Vocational School District. Indira’s love of education and art has been transformed her students to win art shows and travel across the county. Her goal is not only to teach art skills but to develop a greater appreciation for art. Ms. Bailey’s class is not a typical art course, she teaches art as a career not a hobby. She instills in her students that they are creators, innovators and designers for the 21st century.
